Existing from 1896 to 1967, the Toronto Maple Leafs baseball team played both Double-A and Triple-A ball, with the 1902, 1918, 1920, 1926, and 1960 squads recognized as being among the 100 greatest minor league teams of all time. Originating from the estate of Cecil Finkler, a Former International League Toronto Maple Leafs team executive, we have a pair of balls team-signed by the 1952 and 1954 Toronto Maple Leafs. Spalding International league models, the 1952 ball has been signed by 24 in light blue ink, including Burleigh Grimes (manager), Lew Morton, Hal Keller, Johnny Hetki, Frank Colman, Duke Markell, Ray Shore, Hal Hudson, Wilmer Fields, Duke Markell, John Hetki and others. Most of the signatures have bled into the material and are somewhat faded, while the 1954 ball has been signed by 25 in blue ink including Luke Sewell (manager), Elston Howard, Buddy Kerr, Hector Rodríguez, Lew Morton, Sam Jethroe, Harry Schaeffer, Billy DeMars, Bobby Wilson, Ed Blake, Loren Babe, Frank Barnes and others. The signatures are somewhat light , with a few hard to decipher. Both balls show toning along with a few scuff marks. A Classic Auctions LOA will accompany.
