Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/18/2025
Playing college hockey at the University of Michigan, Warren Luhning only played in parts of three NHL seasons before retiring due to suffering a career-ending concussion. From his rookie season in 1997-98, where he saw action in 8 games, we have a signed New York Islanders jersey worn by Luhning. Made by CCM and sporting both "Goalie Style" and size "58" labels affixed to the inner collar, both the CCM and NHL shield logos have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with a familiar Islanders team crest in layered tackle twill that also displays with embroidered details, "48" appears over the sleeves and verso in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals, with "Luhning" spelt out in single layer navy twill letters across the affixed nameplate at the top of the reverse. The jersey shows just light use, with a few burn marks to the left sleeve. There is also a bit of pilling to the interior sleeves. The reverse of the team crest has been signed by Isles equipment manager Joe McMahon, with "1997-98" and "#39".
