This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
Playing his junior hockey as a member of the Toronto Marlboros, helping the club to a Memorial Cup championship in 1964, Nick Harbaruk would spend his first five (5) professional seasons with he Tulsa Oilers, an affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs before being claimed by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1969 Intra-league draft. Playing a total of 364 games in the NHL between the Penguins and St. Louis Blues, Harbaruk would jump ship to the WHA in 1974, going on to play 181 games with the Indianapolis Racers. Offered here, we present this Racers jersey worn by Harbaruk during the 1975-76 season. A Rawlings made tie-up style durene garment, a Rawlings tag is found residing over the inner collar that displays a size "46" identifier while the front of the desirable jersey has been decorated with a Racers team crest that is fully administered in layered tackle twill. Accented over the sleeves and verso with Harbaruk's number "10" in dual layer blue-over-red tackle twill numerals, the nameplate that was once affixed at the top of the reverse has been removed though evidence of it through the outline can easily be made out with some small holes observed in the area caused by the removal. Exhibiting excellent game-wear, dark stick marks are found over the front, reverse and both sleeves which also show unrepaired holes, heavy board burns and coloured paint transfers. With an additional hole found near the left side seam along with a board burn, another heavy board burn is present to the right of the "0" on the reverse. Displaying good sweat staining throughout the interior, a cloth loop style fight strap has been utilized and pilling/frays are seen over both elbows. Additionally, two photos of Harbaruk taken during a game against Cincinnati from the same season appear to show an apparent photo-match to the red coloured paint transfer near the left elbow though are not high resolution enough for us to call it a conclusive photo-match. Copies of both images will be included with the jersey.
