Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
The fifth installment of the popular outdoor game and played in front of over 45,000 spectators in Philadelphia, the 2012 Winter Classic witnessed an East-Coast match-up, with the Rangers slipping past the Flyers 3-2, aided by a pair of Michael Rupp goals. We have a Flyers jersey worn during the second period by back-up netminder Ilya Bryzgalov. A “Goalie Style” label with “56” size tag sits along the collar beneath screened-on “NHL Winter Classic”, with NHL and Reebok crests over the front and back necklines respectively. Featuring a layered felt Flyers team crest, the vintage-style tie-neck has been accented with matching felt sleeve and verso numbers, with the Winter Classic patch over the right shoulder. A MeiGray patch numbered “I03042” sits over the inside hem, with a matching LOA to accompany. Worn for just a single period as back-up, the jersey remains in absolutely wonderful condition.
