Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
Having played in only nineteen (19) games during the 2008-09 regular season after making his NHL debut the year before, Jonathan Ericsson would play in all but one of Detroit’s playoff games that year, registering eight (8) points in twenty-two (22) games as the Red Wings once again matched up with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Stanley Cup Finals. Offered here, we present this photo-matched jersey worn by Ericsson during that playoff run, including the aforementioned Cup Finals. Made by Reebok, a lone size “58” tag is affixed to the inner collar while NHL shield and Reebok crest adorn the front and reverse necklines respectively. Decorated over the front with Detroit’s famed winged wheel team crest that features embroidered details throughout, the all-important 2009 Stanley Cup Finals patch has been added over the right breast. Having had Ericsson's number “52” sewn to the sleeves and verso in single layer red or white twill numerals, “Ericsson” is spelt out in single layer red twill letters that have been sewn directly to the upper back in a gentle arch above the numbers. Exhibiting good game-use, team repairs and board burns are observed over both sleeves while stick marks are present over the right sleeve numbers and reverse as well. Having had a team tag denoting the jersey as a “2008-2009 Authentic Game Jersey Playoff Set” offering sewn inside the right hip, the team inventory number “46187” is heat pressed above in white and corresponds to the matching Red Wings “HockeyTown” COA and hologram stickers. Regarding the previously mentioned photo-match, the jersey is matched with Getty Image #88436356 (June 9th, 2009 vs Pittsburgh – Stanley Cup Finals Game 6) to the stick marks through the right sleeve numbers.
