Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
One of the greatest baseball players to ever grace a field, Mickey Mantle is also held in the same breath as one of the greatest players to ever don the pinstripes of the New York Yankees, doing so for his entire 18-year Major League career in which he slugged a mammoth 536 home runs. The kingpin of the sports memorabilia industry and one of the most collected players of all-time, offered here is this collection of five (5) Topps, O-Pee-Chee and Post Canadian baseball cards of Mickey Mantle that date between 1961 to 1967. Starting with Mickey's included 1961 Topps card, found to be in the condition scope of FR to G, creases are present along the top and bottom that extend towards the middle of the card along with others at the corners which also sport wear and rounding. Additionally, some light surface wear/paper loss is observed on the reverse. For the 1962 Post card, a Canadian release with both French and English text, the hand-cut offering is found to be in the vicinity of G to VG condition for its effort with a small crease found on the reverse worth making note of. For the 1964 Topps specimen, the card is in the range of GOOD condition while showing some small creases and corner wear while the 1966 OPC card is viewed as G to VG with corner wear and the final card, a 1967 O-Pee-Chee copy from Mickey's second to last season, is in the scope of FR to G due to numerous heavy creases and corner wear. Additionally, also included is a 1989 Bowman reprint of Mantle's 1951 rookie card that presents around the grade of EX-MT. An excellent assortment of cardboard featuring one of the best to ever play and the hobby's biggest name, don't let these pass you and your all-important collection by!
