Jacques Plante's important and coveted rookie card indeed headlines this set of ever-popular 1955-56 Parkies, having recently been examined by PSA, with "4" on the label joined by a VG-EX designation. Appearing off-center, the legend's lunging image are a treat to behold, with light corner wear more obvious, of course, at the two "red" corners. Two other encapsulated specimens join the Plante in the form of card #44 of Jean Beliveau and #68 of Frank Selke, both of which are housed in older PSA holders that display assessments of VG-EX 4 and NM 7 respectively for their effort. For the rest of the set, found largely in the grade ranges of VG-EX to EX and EX, about twenty (20) of the cards making up the assembly are worse off, falling in the scope of GOOD, G to VG and VG to VG-EX with one (1) that is in the range of PR to FR. For the notable cards, condition leaders include the likes of 3-Horton, 4-Armstrong, 23-Broda ATG (slight corner wear) and 56-Vezina ATG, all of which are seen as being in the vicinity of EX to EX+ while cards of 1-Lumley (bottom left corner wear), 37-Richard (light corner wear and red border a bit faded), 43-Geoffrion (top right corner ding), 45-Harvey (bottom left corner ding), 71-Plante Is Protected IA (red border faded), 74-Beliveau Bats Puck IA (small bottom left corner ding), 75-Leaf Speedsters Attack IA (corner wear), 77-Jammed on the Boards IA (bottom left corner ding) and 79-Maple Leaf Gardens (bottom right corner ding) are in the scope of VG-EX to EX condition. Finishing up the set, cards #72 "Rocket Roars Through" (corner wear), #73 "Richard Tests Lumley" (dings to bottom corners) and #78 of the Montreal Forum (border dents), all three (3) present in the range of VG to VG-EX condition. A desirable vintage release that is high up on the list of all collectors, don't let this one pass you and your all-important collection by!
