After five successful seasons with the Dallas Stars that resulted in a Stanley Cup Championship in 1999, Ed Belfour would don the blue and white of the Toronto Maple Leafs beginning with the 2002-03 season and spend three (3) seasons in Toronto, compiling a record of 93-61-15 in 70 games played. Offered here, is this photo-matched blocker and glove set used by Belfour during his first pre-season as a member of the Maple Leafs. CCM made Heaton 10 model gauntlets decorated in Toronto’s blue, white and silver colourway, both have had “Belfour” embroidered into them on either the side (blocker) or backside of the cuff (glove). Exhibiting excellent game-use with numerous puck marks observed over both pieces, the pair also shows paint transfers, fraying and staining. With no rips or tears to either piece, the blocker palm remains in excellent condition with no holes and just light rubbing to speak of. Having been signed over the face of the blocker with a blue marker ink signature that has faded and bled over time but still remains fully legible, the pair have been photo-matched with Getty Image #53121522 (September 25th, 2002 vs Buffalo) to numerous puck marks that are present on both the blocker and glove. Hailing from his personal collection, an LOA signed by Belfour will accompany the piece.
