Always a hobby favourite and featuring a groovy array of colours as well as a strong group of National Hockey League star power, up on the block this time is a starter set of O-Pee-Chee's forever popular 1971-72 hockey release. Including 220 of the 264 cards that make up the checklist, the group is paced by the assembly's key rookie card of Montreal Canadiens goalie, Ken Dryden that has been inspected and slabbed by KSA, who have deemed it worthy of a VGE 4 for its effort. Also including an additional raw ungraded Dryden rookie that presents in the range of VG-EX to EX with light wear to the corners and top edge, a copy of Bobby Orr's trophies card has also been graded by KSA, registering as an ENM 6 on their grading scale. For the rest of the set, presenting in an average condition range of EX to EX-MT with about 10 to 15 cards having humidity warping or elastic marks and missing the key RC of Guy Lafleur, card #193 of Darryl Sittler leads the way condition wise for the notables, remaining in the scope of EX-MT to NM after all these years. For the other key cards, 60-Pearrault, 114-Clarke (65-35 centering), 131-Parent (60-40 centering), 261-Hull AS (light corner wear), 263-Beliveau (light corner wear) and 264-Checklist (unmarked - light corner wear) are all viewed as being in the range of EX to EX-MT while card #110 of Tony Esposito is found to be in the scope of EX shape (very small stain at bottom left) and #195 of Jacques Plante is around VG-EX to EX (small bottom corner dings). Closing out the group, cards #133 of Marcel Dionne (rookie) as well as the checklist card at #111 are in the range of VG to VG-EX with the Dionne showing a water stain and centering issues while the checklist has been marked. Finally, card #20 of Phil Esposito is found to be in the vicinity of G to VG with water warping.
It must be noted that the grading standards followed by KSA may not correspond to those currently employed by PSA, BGS or SGC. The outcome of an attempted cross-over of this piece through any of those services, then, would be uncertain and cannot be guaranteed.
