Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
With close-to-precise centering and still as mesmerizing as it was when it was first pulled from a 10-cent pack of O-Pee-Chee hockey cards during Ken Dryden’s first official NHL season – what? a goaltender pictured wearing his goalie mask on a hockey card! – is this captivating example of big Ken’s coveted rookie card, the kingpin of OPC’s 1971-72 issue, that has been assessed a PSA mark of EX-MT 6 for its effort. Retaining excellent colours over the front, touches of wear are observed at all four (4) corners along with some black "snow" over Ken's image. Displaying with pleasing centering on the front side that could be described as near perfect, the back of the card shows a slight diamond cut with the write up making note of the fact that Ken was already a Stanley Cup champion by the time his rookie card was produced and distributed in packs. Housed in a nearly flawless PSA holder, don't let yourself miss out on this example of the rookie card featuring the man that would backstop the Canadiens to six (6) Stanley Cup triumphs in just a little over eight (8) full seasons – remarkable!
