Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023

The greatest golfer that the country of Canada has ever had come out of it, Mike Weir spent over 110 weeks in the Top-10 of the Official World Golf Rankings between 2001 and 2005. Weir would do what no Canadian had done before in 2003 when he won the 2003 Masters Tournament and earned himself the coveted green jacket. Offered here, we present this TaylorMade R7 Staff golf bag issued to and signed by Weir from the 2006 Open Championship. Standing roughly 35 1/2" tall, the bag, made of a leather construction in the colours black, maroon and deep yellow, features "Mike Weir" embroidered into the front of it in thick white letters below an embroidered 2006 Open Championship crest as well as TaylorMade and R7 identifiers. Complete with the shoulder strap and top cover, the bag remains in good condition and fully functional with all the zippers in excellent condition as well. Showing signs of use (not by Weir himself) through fraying to the leather in areas, particularly around the edges, some scratching/scuffs are observed over the bottom of the plastic base. A beautiful piece, Weir has made it even better by signing over the front alongside the Open Championship crest with a gold ink signature that remains legible despite some fading and lightness in areas from age. An excellent piece that will become a major winner in your collection.
