Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
Featuring three of the greatest players the game of hockey has even seen in its history, combining for a total of eighteen (18) Stanley Cup championships during their respective playing careers, offered here is this collection of eight (8) graded hockey cards of HOFers Jacques Plante (3), Maurice Richard (3) and Terry Sawchuk (2) that date between 1953-54 and 1970-71. All having been inspected and slabbed by KSA, the oldest card is found in the form of card #30 Lach & Richard from the famed 1953-54 Parkhurst set that has earned a VG 3. Followed by a trio of Plante offerings that include "Jake the Snake's" 1958-59, 1959-60 and 1961-62 Parkhurst cards, the oldest of the three has been deemed worthy of a VGE 4 while the other two have garnered marks of ENM 6 and EX 5 respectively. For the final four (4) cards, the quartet includes a pair of 1960-61 Parkhurst examples of Maurice Richard that display grades of VGE 4 and ENM 6 which are joined by 1961-62 Parkhurst and 1970-71 O-Pee-Chee examples of 4x Vezina Trophy winner, Terry Sawchuk, that have been assessed marks of VGE 4 and ENM 6. With all the holders remaining in excellent condition, showing just the odd light scratch/scuff, the group is sure to be a welcome collection to an existing or newly started vintage hockey collection.
It must be noted that the grading standards followed by KSA may not correspond to those currently employed by PSA, BGS or SGC. The outcome of an attempted cross-over of this piece through any of those services, then, would be uncertain and cannot be guaranteed.
