Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
Debatably the best player of the 1980s and 1990s as the only one able to hold a candle with the likes of countryman Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux’s storied career featured adversity like no one had ever seen before but still saw him register ten (10) seasons of 100 points or better and win a pair of Stanley Cups. Up for grabs here, is this collection of Lemieux hockey cards, totalling nineteen (19). All found in raw unglued form, the group is paced by a pair of Mario's coveted 1985-86 O-Pee-Chee rookie cards with one presenting in the grade range of VG-EX to EX with dings to the left side corners, slight wear to the right side corners and light border were while the other is around the scope of VG to VG-EX with a small ding being present on all four corners as well as a mini dot mark at the top border. For the rest of the cards, including solo examples of his 1985-86 OPC Rookie Scoring Leaders offering (VG-EX to EX - slight corner wear) and 1988-89 Topps regular release (EX to EX-MT - slight corner wear, the rest are cards from 1989-90 to 1990-91 from brands including O-Pee-Chee, O-Pee-Chee Premier, Score and Pro Set that are in the grade ranges of EX to EX-MT or EX-MT to NM with some possibly better while one of the 1989-90 OPC examples is worse off, falling down towards VG.
