Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2023
Playing for the Drummondville Voltigeurs in the Q along with a partial season in the AHL before making his NHL debut with Quebec in 1993-94, Rene Corbet saw action with Colorado for parts of four seasons and won a Stanley Cup championship with the Aves in 1995-96. From that championship season, we have an Avalanche jersey worn by the Victoriaville native. A Center Ice label and “56R” swatch is affixed to the collar, with embroidered NHL and Starter crests on the back bottom hem. Styled with the familiar Aves team crest in tackle twill partially embroidered, “20” appears over the sleeves and verso in textured twill, with matching “Bigfoot” alternate crests adorning each shoulder. It should be noted that the offered jersey sports the 1996 Stanley Cup championship patch over the right breast, with these added to jerseys as the team advanced to the finals. The patches were also added to all jerseys after the finals by the Colorado staff, including our example. Corbet has signed the team crest in black marker, with some light bleeding to the signature occurring. The jersey shows great wear with a number of puck and stick marks to the front and sleeves, with two team repairs to the left elbow and one to the right. A COA from the Aves will accompany.
