Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023

One of the NHL’s legendary innovators as the first to regularly wear and develop the goal mask, Jacques Plante was also instrumental in helping to evolve the goaltending position itself, with his forays from the crease chasing loose pucks now commonplace amongst netminders. A six-time Stanley Cup champion as a member of the Montreal Canadiens, offered here is this quartet of cards featuring HOFer Jacques Plante. With the oldest of the four (4) cards being found in the form of Jacques' 1957-58 Parkhurst offering, the card is seen as being in the condition scope of G to VG with a few light creases and writing on the reverse but displays better than the grade bestowed upon it after inspection. Followed up by a 1959-60 Parkhurst card that is the vicinity of PR to FR condition, a VG-EX neighbourhood example of Plante's 1960-61 Parkhurst release is also included, once again displaying better than its grade but hampered by a fine long crease to the left of his blocker that mostly shows on the card's reverse. Finally, the group is rounded out by copy of Plante's 1962-63 Parkhurst card that is seen as being in the range of VG-EX condition but has a crease at the top of his blocker.
