Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
One of the most difficult positions in all of sports with those that dare play it regarded as both fearless and a bit kooky, up for grabs here is this collection of ten (10) vintage goalie hockey cards that date between 1933-34 and 2001-02. Paced by a copy of Lorne Chabot's 1933-34 O-Pee-Chee Series "A" rookie card that has been deemed worthy of their VG 3 designation, the card is housed in a KSA holder that shows some light scratches and scuffs over both sides that is worth mentioning for accuracy. For the rest of the lot, a 1953-54 Parkhurst card of Sugar Jim Henry is present and found to be in the condition range of VG-EX despite a pen mark on the reverse while cards of Glenn Hall from 1958-59 and 1961-62 Topps are featured as well, displaying in the grade neighbourhood of FR to GD and EX-MT to NM respectively with the 61'-62' specimen sporting an image that is off-center. Closing out the vintage section of the group, four (4) low-grade cards of Bill Durnan (1955-56 Parkhurst), Johnny Bower (1959-60 Parkhurst), Ed Chadwick (1959-60 Parkhurst) and Charlie Hodge (1959-60 Parkhurst) are included as well, all in the range of PR to FR with flaws such as staining, creases, corner, edge and surface wear. Lastly a 1992 "Original Six" card picturing Harry Lumley on the front is included, having been signed by him over the front in green marker ink and displaying well, as is a pack pulled Glenn Hall autograph from 2001-02 Topps Heritage that features a crisp black ink signature over the front of the card that is a reprint of his 1957-58 rookie card.
