Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
Born in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, and first learning to box while in a reformatory in upstate New York, Jack LaMotta would compete in over 100 bouts between 1941 and 1954, and would be knocked down only a single time, by Danny Nardico, on New Year’s Eve, 1952. His life was later immortalized on the silver screen by Martin Scorsese where he was wonderfully portrayed by Robert De Niro. We offer a boxing robe signed by the infamous fighter. Thin nylon material in a leopard pattern, a single small tag with "M" sizing and "Made in Thailand" is affixed to the collar, with "Jake LaMotta" in large white twill letters sewn to the upper reverse. LaMotta has signed the lower reverse in silver, adding "Raging Bull", with the large signature displaying beautifully. A hologram is affixed, with a COA and photo of LaMotta holding a similar robe included, along with a JSA Auction LOA.
