Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
Joining those past legends that made their mark on the game, just a mere 15 jersey numbers have been retired by the Montreal Canadiens over the past century, with only those paramount players achieving status as one of the game’s all-time greatest honoured as such. Sharing the rafters of the Bell Center with iconic Habs’ Howie Morenz, Maurice Richard and Georges Vezina, Henri Richard, Butch Bouchard and Yvan Cournoyer were honoured for their tremendous careers, and we offer a trio of retirement banner replicas individually signed by the legendary Habs. At approx 48” in length (widest points), the vinyl dual-sided banners feature each player’s name and number, with their respective career years listed along the base. Richard has signed in silver, with “10/12/75” and 2/16 added, Cournoyer has also signed in silver, with “12/11/05” and 4/12 added, and Bouchard in gold (signature blends into the background). Each banner shows light wear and will be shipped rolled, with some ink transfer over the reverse of the Cournoyer banner. Richard and Cournoyer have signed their LOAs, with each set in a 15 ½” x 16 ½” frame with a photo of the player holding his banner along with a name plaque. The Bouchard banner will also be accompanied by an LOA (not signed or framed).
