Scoring the pivotal game-winning goal that demoralized the Americans and secured Canada’s first Olympic gold medal in half a century, Joe Sakic would score four points during the final match vs the US at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, more than enough to earn tournament MVP honours. From the gold medal-winning 2002 Games in Salt Lake City, we have a Team Canada practice jersey worn by the superstar likely in the team’s orientation camp leading up to the games. A sewn-down Nike label with “54” sizing is affixed to the inner collar, with an embroidered swoosh logo over the front of the collar and a “Respect” stop sign crest over the reverse neckline. Featuring a tackle twill Hockey Canada team crest, “19” appears over the verso in single white twill with “Sakic” across the upper reverse in matching material. Displaying with good use, dark stains and stick marks appear over the front of the blue coloured garment with similar stains and stick marks decorating the sleeves as well along with board burns. Exhibiting various board burns and small paint transfers over the shoulders and reverse numbers as well, the interior shows pilling around the elbows/armpits and lower reverse.
