Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
A two-time Stanley Cup champion and a veteran of 881 National Hockey League contests, Brian Skrudland would answer the call of his country for the 1991 Canada Cup tournament, suiting up in Canada's red and white colours throughout the pre-tournament schedule before being one of the last cuts the team made before the start of the tournament. Offered here from the 1991 Canada Cup, we present this Team Canada jersey worn by Skrudland during the pre-tournament. A CCM made offering with both Maska Air-Knit and size "52" labels affixed to the inner collar, the CCM logo is found embroidered in red into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with a rubberized Team Canada crest and sleeve emblems that remain in excellent condition despite some light cracking being observed, a Labatts "Coupe Canada Cup" sponsorship patch appears over the right breast. Having been accented with Skrudland's number "52" on the reverse in single layer red tackle twill numerals, "Skrudland" is spelt out in matching red twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate over the top of the back. Exhibiting light but clear game-use, stick marks are present over both sleeves, the lower reverse and left shoulder while light board burns are found over the left elbow. With a large blue coloured board burn/paint transfer over the left hip hem, the interior still sports the fight strap as well as fraying to the edge of the elbow reinforcements. Hailing from Skrudland's personal collection, his signed LOA will accompany the piece.
