Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023

Suiting up in forty (40) regular season and nineteen (19) playoffs game with the Dallas Stars in 1998-99, his first full campaign spent in "The Lone Star State", Brian Skrudland would win his second Stanley Cup championship at seasons end, as Dallas defeated Edmonton, St. Louis, Colorado and Buffalo in the playoffs to claim Lord Stanley's mug for the first time in franchise history. Offered here and hailing from his personal collection, we present this photo and video-matched Stars jersey worn by Skrudland during the 1999 Stanley Cup Finals in road games against the Buffalo Sabres. Made by CCM, "Goalie Style", "Made in Canada" and size "56" tags are affixed to the inner collar while the logos of CCM, the NHL shield and the Stars have all been embroidered into the rear hem. Decorated over the front with a Stars team crest that displays both textured and embroidered details, the all-important 1999 Stanley Cup Finals patch has been added over the right breast while matching State of Texas alternate logo patches reside over both shoulders. Sporting Skrudland's number "10" sewn to the sleeves and verso in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals, “Skrudland” is spelt out in matching style across the affixed matching nameplate across the top of the back. Exhibiting good game-wear, stick marks are observed over the lower front, the reverse and both sleeves which also display numerous board burns throughout. Spying a team repair over the left elbow and additional board burns at the right shoulder, a small fabric snag is found under the team crest on the front while a couple of small burns at the left cuff and lower left side have resulted in small unrepaired holes. Showing light pilling at the elbows on the interior and salting to the fight strap, it is worth noting that only six jerseys were originally made available to the public that were worn in the Finals from the Stars. The players kept both their white and green sets, but there were three players who wore two sets of jerseys per game including Skrudland, Ed Belfour and Mike Keane. MeiGray was able to sell one white and one green of each of these three players and the Skrudland that was included in that collection has already come to market. Regarding the aforementioned photo and video-matches, the jersey is photo-matched to Getty Image #72538643 (June 1st, 1999 vs Colorado - 1999 Western Conference Finals Game 6) to board burns/fabric snags at the right shoulder on the seam above the sleeve numbers and at the edge of the alternate logo crest while screen shots from Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals (June 15th, 1999 vs Buffalo) show the correct placement of the numbers on the reverse. An LOA signed by Skrudland will accompany the piece.
