From a player who helped bring to the forefront the often unspoken battle many have with clinical depression, although tragically, it took his and other’s passing to educate others about the true seriousness of the problem. Rypien was a hard-nosed player who would divide his time between the NHL Vancouver Canucks and the team’s AHL affiliate Manitoba Moose during his pro career that spanned 2005 to 2011, and offered here is his game-issued Moose jersey from 2008-09 that features the pink ribbon patch on the left breast, with this set of jerseys worn by Moose players at the beginning of the season and later sold with proceeds going to support CancerCare Manitoba’s Breast Cancer of Hope. Tagged in the collar with an “American Hockey League RBK” patch and a size “56” flap just below, this Rypien jersey is mark-free, and although the accompanying LOA, signed by representatives of the Manitoba Moose, has it as a “game-worn” jersey for October of the 2008-09 season, Rypien was a member of the Canucks at that time, making this a "game-issued" jersey. Rypien would take an extended leave of absence after just a handful of games with the Canucks in October of 2008, due to his problems which most weren’t aware of at the time. **Please note that there are a few dirt marks to the upper chest that were not on the jersey when it previously sold in 2014.
