Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
Losing just a single game to the Miami Dolphins, with the best-ranked defense in the game, the Chicago Bears concluded the 1985 NFL season with a decisive victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XX by a score of 46-10, led by quarterback Jim McMahon and head coach Mike Ditka. Offered here, is this Chicago Bears helmet signed by both McMahon and Ditka. A full-size Riddell made replica model with Bears decals over each side as well as over the front bumper, the helmet remains in good condition with just a small number of light scuffs throughout that are worth noting for accuracy. Complete with all the padding on the interior as well as the chin strap and cup, both McMahon and Ditka have signed the right side of the helmet above and beside the Bears logo with silver marker ink signatures that display without issue while McMahon has added an inscription for his number as well as “SBXX” in matching ink. Having had both PSA and JSA stickers affixed over the lower reverse, matching COA’s for each will accompany the piece.
