Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
A Memorial Cup champion as a member of the Ottawa 67’s in 1984, Adam Creighton was drafted 11th overall in 1983, and dressed for 5 different NHL clubs throughout his career, playing in a total of 708 NHL games over that time. From his lone season on Long Island, offered here is this jersey worn by Adam during the 1991-92 campaign. Made by CCM, both Maska Air-Knit and size “54” labels are affixed to the inner collar while the rear hem has been decorated with embroidered CCM and NHL shield logos. Styled over the front with the Islanders familiar team crest in layered tackle twill, the NHL’s 75th anniversary patch has been added over the right breast while New York’s 20th anniversary franchise patch graces the left shoulder. Having been accented over the sleeves and verso with Creighton’s number “11” in dual layer blue-over-orange tackle twill numerals, “Creighton” is spelt out in single layer blue twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate. Likely worn for the entirety of the season, the jersey shows heavy game wear throughout the body and both sleeves via stick marks, board burns, coloured paint transfers, unrepaired holes, pilling at the hem, right cuff and interior as well as heavy sweat staining near the collar. Additionally, the battered garment has been photo-matched with Adam’s 1992-93 Score Canadian hockey card which clearly shows the mark under the team crest that extends from the “N” to the “R” in “Islanders”. An LOA from Grey Flannel will accompany the piece.
