One of the greatest Vancouver Canucks of all-time, Trevor Linden would play sixteen (16) of his nineteen (19) NHL seasons with the club after they drafted him 2nd overall in 1988. Retiring after the 2007-08 season with a total of 1382 games played and numerous Canucks franchise marks, offered here is this Vancouver jersey worn by Linden during the team’s October 4th, 1997 “Game One Japan” contest, the second of back-to-back games against the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. An attractive style that made its debut that very game, the CCM made garment features both “Goalie Style” and size “58” labels affixed to the inner collar while the logos of CCM and the NHL shield have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Styled over the front with a Canucks team crest that features embroidered details, the navy V-neck has been accented over the left breast with a distinguished alternate captain’s “A” with the outline of the captain’s “C” typically worn by Linden observed underneath (Linden resigned the captaincy to newly acquired Canuck Mark Messier). Sporting the 1998 NHL All-Star Game patch over the right breast and the all-important 1997 “Game One Japan” crest has been added over the left shoulder while the sleeves and verso have accented with Linden’s number “16” in tri-layer stacked tackle twill numerals while “Linden” is spelt out in single layer silver twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate. Likely worn for more than just the single contest based on the amount of wear, stick marks are observed over the front and both sleeves which also show board burns and coloured paint transfers. Exhibiting a team repair near the left elbow as well as some staining over the front and left sleeve, pilling is observed on the interior and at both cuffs. Displaying Linden’s number “16” penned to the fight strap in black marker, an LOA from the National Hockey League will accompany the piece. Addendum; This set of jersey was worn in the 1997-98 pre-season and in the October 4th, 1997 "GameOne Japan" game and were retired after that.
