A franchise that has enjoyed a rich history in southern Florida since they were established as a franchise in the American Football League in 1966, the Miami Dolphins would make their mark in the football world by winning back-to-back Super Bowl’s in 1972 and 1973 with the ’72 Dolphins recognized for being the only undefeated team in NFL history. Offered here, is this lot consisting of a Miami Dolphins full-size helmet made of pewter that has been signed by HOF quarterback Dan Marino as well as a pair of signed Brian Hartline game-worn cleats from the 2012 season. Starting with the helmet, as mentioned, the piece is a full-size professional style model made of pewter. Made by Riddell and featuring Dolphins’ logos over either side with Marino’s “13” on the back, the piece has also been decorated with “Riddell” and “Dolphins” wordmark logo decals over the front bumper and lower reverse. Accented with a matching pewter face mask over the front, all the padding remains accounted for on the interior while Marino has penned a black ink signature that shows light wear over the Dolphins logo on the right side. Complete with chin strap and cup, the piece shows areas of pitting and tarnishing throughout worth mentioning for accuracy. Serial numbered “82/213” on the reverse in think black marker, both Mounted Memories and Marino holograms are affixed to the reverse.
For the cleats, Nike Zoom Fly models in Miami’s white and orange colours “82 Dolphins” is embroidered into each heel while a tag on the inside of each displays a size “12” designation. Showing game-use throughout via scuffs, marks and abrasions, a piece of missing material is observed near the inside toe of the right cleat. Having been signed by Hartline on the outside of both with a black marker ink signature that both display well, the wide-reciever has added a “2012 Game Used” inscription under each autograph. Having had Rich Altman holograms affixed to both, JSA stickers numbered “AC82538” and “AC82539” are affixed inside each tongue with one accompanied by its matching JSA COA.
