Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2023
Retiring with a total of 406 games of NHL experience under his belt after going undrafted in junior, Warren Rychel would win a trio of Memorial Cup championships as GM of the Windsor Spitfires in 2009, 2010 and 2017, one of only three (3) hockey minds to accomplish the feat. A Stanley Cup champion with the Colorado Avalanche during their inaugural season of 1995-96, offered here is this Avs jersey worn by Rychel during that Cup winning first season. Made by Starter, both “Center Ice Authentic Collection” and size “54-R” tags have been affixed to the inner collar while a combination NHL shield and Starter logo has been embroidered into the reverse hem. An all-mesh construction specimen, the front of the jersey has been decorated with an Avalanche team crest that features embroidered details while matching alternate logo patches have been added over both shoulders. Having had Rychel’s number “16” sewn to the sleeves and verso in matching tri-layer stacked tackle twill numerals, “Rychel” is spelt out in single layer black twill letters that are arched across the affixed matching mesh nameplate at the top of the back. Displaying overall light game use, dark stick marks are seen over the lower front and both sleeves while liquid spot staining is also observed throughout as well. Having been customized with mesh inserts at the bottom of each arm to widen the sleeves, it should be mentioned as well that the white areas of the sleeve are slightly off-coloured from age. An Avalanche team LOA will accompany the piece.
