Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
A first-round draft choice of St Louis in 1991, Steve Staios played for six different NHL clubs throughout his career while also winning gold twice with Team Canada at the IIHF World Championships. From his time in Alberta, we have a photo-matched Edmonton Oilers jersey worn by the Hamilton native in 2008-09. An Elite label along with a CCM tag with “56” sizing is affixed to the collar, with NHL and Reebok crests over the front and reverse necklines respectively. Styled with the classic oil drop team crest with embroidered detailing, “24" is sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with the Oilers 30th anniversary crest over the right shoulder. There are a few fabric pulls and burn marks visible, with a slit over the left elbow. Getty Image #85936381 (April 10, 2009) has been matched to the mark within the open section of the "2" of "24" on the left sleeve, with the burn marks to the bottom right of the Oilers 30th crest and to the right of the top of the "4" of "24" on the right sleeve also visible. The team patch resides on the inside hem near a patch from MeiGray numbered "F10221", and according to the population report, the jersey is a "Navy Set 3" specimen. An LOA will accompany.
