The backbone and key cog of the Sweden squad that won the gold medal at the 1994 Winter Olympics, Tommy Salo would post a 5-1 record in six (6) games played during the tournament and go on to an NHL career of 526 games played with New York, Edmonton and Colorado in which he took part in the All-Star Game in 2000 and 2002. Offered here, is this Oilers jersey worn by Salo during the 2002-03 season that has been photo-matched! Made by KOHO and sporting Elite Sportswear, “Goalie Style” and size “58” labels affixed to the inner collar, a KOHO patch has been added over the reverse neckline while the NHL shield has been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with a familiar Oilers team crest in layered tackle twill with matching alternate logo patches residing over each shoulder, the left sleeve displays a black twill wrap around armband in memory of Oilers founder, Bill Hunter. Accented over the sleeves and verso with Salo’s number “35” in tri-layer stacked tackle twill numerals, “Salo” has been spelt out in matching style across the affixed matching nameplate. Exhibiting good game wear via puck marks over the front and both sleeves along with board burns/stick marks over both as well, additional wear is observed through a trio of unrepaired cuts over the front and another at the left cuff. Displaying an Oilers team tag denoting the piece as a “Set #1 2002-2003” offering sewn inside the rear hem, a MeiGray tag numbered “A01605” is sewn alongside it with the company’s population report listing the jersey as a “Navy 1st Regular Season” specimen. Regarding the aforementioned photo-match, the jersey is matched with Getty Image #1783620 (December 21st, 2002 vs Vancouver) to the puck mark in the copper stripe of Salo’s right sleeve.
