One of many new releases to emerge in the early 1930s, the Hamilton Chewing Gum company’s 1933-34 V288 hockey card set rings in with a checklist that includes a total of 21 cards and features some of the era’s key players. Offered here in complete set form, this assembly of the desirable release, displaying both French and English bios on their reverses as well as “Puck Gum”, is spearheaded by freshy graded PSA examples of HOFers Howie Morenz (PSA VG-EX 4), King Clancy (PSA GOOD 2), Aurel Joliat (PSA NM-MT 8 – POP 2 w/ only 1 graded higher!) and the rookie card of Charlie Conacher (PSA GOOD 2). Made up of mostly orange background variation offerings that are found for twenty (20) of the twenty-one (21), one green background card, #39 of Harold Cotton, is a green background offering. For the rest of the cards in the set, remaining in raw ungraded form, the assembly includes an EX-MT range copy of #30 Lorne Chabot, an EX vicinity example of card #9 picturing Andy Blair and a VG-EX scope copy specimen of card #14 featuring Wildor Larochelle over the front. For cards seen in the grade range of G to VG, nine (9) such examples are found making up the largest grade scope of the set being offered. Including the cards of HOFer Joe Primeau, HOFer Marty Burke, HOFer Ace Bailey, HOFer Sylvia Mantha, HOFer Busher Jackson, Alexander Levinsky, Harold Cotton, Ebbie Goodfellow and Larry Aurie, cards following up those are found to be around the neighbourhood of GOOD and feature the examples of Nick Wasnie, Bill Thoms and HOFer Hap Day. Finishing out the set, is a FR grade copy of card #23 that features Pit Lepine who is also present in the group of seven (7) extras that are also included, with the second copy existing in the grade range of “Authentic” while additional cards of Bill Thoms, Hap Day and Larry Aurie are found in the range of G to VG and extra cardboard of Marty Burke and Sylvio Mantha is present in the scope of GOOD condition. Laslty, a second Joe Primeau card is found, in the grade vicinity of FR to G.
