Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
Together for only two seasons (1945-46 and 1946-47), The Pony Line featured Chicago Black Hawks stars Bill Mosienko along with Max and Doug Bentley. The trio dazzled fans with their scoring exploits. Max Bentley led the league in scoring in 1945–46, while Mosienko finished sixth. The line was broken up when Max Bentley was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs. This lot includes three original late-1940s oversized photos of the Pony Line, with one signed by Mosienko, along with a complete set of ten (10) 1934-35 CCM Green Border hockey pictures along with the CCM Charlie Conacher ad card and two small CCM advertisements. The photos all show the trio in game-action, with two of the photos having Life Magazine stamps on the reverse and one dated "Feb 7 1946". The third photo is signed by Mosienko in black ink, with personalization to Max Bentley, with "Return to Max Bentley" handwritten along the right edge. The photos all show heavy wear but would display admirably framed. The CCM pictures include Charlie Conacher, Lorne Chabot, Frank Boucher, Foster Hewitt, the Leafs, Bruins, Maroons, Winnipeg Monarchs, Boston Cubs and Halifax Wolverines. The group remains in beautiful condition, with tears and wear to the envelope.
