Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/28/2023
A member of the famous Olympic gold medal-winning 1920 Winnipeg Falcons, Mike Goodman was a talented athlete who later coached in the short-lived Tropical Hockey League, leading the Coral Gables Seminoles from behind the bench as player-coach in 1938-39. Paul Goodman first appeared in the 1938 Stanley Cup Finals, backstopping Chicago. He would also play in the AHA during the era for the Wichita Skyhawks. This lot contains a puck signed by Mike Goodman during his time coaching the Seminoles in 1938-39, along with Paul Goodman's 1937-38 Skyhawks contract and 1935-36 team-signed Skyhawks program signed by both Mike and Paul Goodman. The puck is an SR model with edge logo and a NY Rangers colour emblem affixed, with Goodman signing in white ink along with "Coach of the Coral Gables Hockey Club 1938-39". The puck shows light wear. The contract called for a salary of $61.00 per week for the hockey season, with Goodman signing in dark ink, with wear present including toning, a few creases and small edge tears at fold lines. Lastly, the program is fully intact (the center-fold is detached), with residue on the back cover from scrapbook removal, with 11 signing near his respective image including Paul Goodman and Mike Goodman, along with Percy Galbraith, Art Erickson, Garnie Campbell, Wilf Ranger, Andy Maloney, Johnnie Phillips and a few others. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany for the signatures.
