Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
We suspect that uncut sheet enthusiasts as well as Patrick Roy collectors will be enticed with these colourful displays, consisting of two (2) 132-card uncut sheets combining for a complete 264-card assembly of O-Pee-Chee’s 1986-87 hockey set. Each measuring out to approximate dimensions of 28 ½” x 42 ½” and retaining good colours over both sheets, the blanked backed offerings when unrolled reveal a crease-free Roy rookie card, located near the middle of the second-to-last row from the bottom. Visually appealing, Roy is joined by the other notable cards including the rookies of Wendel Clark and John Vanbiesbrouck, along with pasteboards of superstars Gretzky, Lemieux and Yzerman. Lemieux’s card is at the far left in the bottom row and also has avoided any creases or obtrusive flaws while Wayne’s offering has a crease running through the middle on the right side of the card. The rather minor flaw won’t be all that noticeable if/when these are flattened out and displayed. Always something that becomes a great conversation piece, the sheets both have some creases worth mentioning along with some corner and edge dings as well as light toning to their reverses. It also needs to be noted that the one sheet is affected by tape on the reverse.
