Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
Hailing from years that saw the New York Yankees continue their dominance in the World Series, knocking off the Cincinnati Reds in 1961 and San Francisco Giants in 1962, the 1961 season was also special due to it being the year that Roger Maris set the then single season home run record. Up for grabs here is this lot consisting of Topps baseball cards from both the 1961 and 1962 seasons. Featuring a total of 112 cards between the two sets with 93 being from 1962 and 19 from 1961, all are found to be in low grade condition due to tape or tape marks over the front of the 1962 examples and glue residue on the backs of the 1961 cardboard. Despite the less than appealing grades even though the cards largely display better, six (6) cards of Babe Ruth career moments are present as well as a New York Yankees team card and a copy of card #234 titled “Maris Wins it in the 9th – World Series Game 3”. Some cool vintage cardboard offerings of the boys of summer from yesteryear, don’t strike out by letting these pass you by!
