The 14th edition of the Winter Classic, the Boston Bruins met the Pittsburgh Penguins at Fenway Park on Jan 2, 2023, with close to 40,000 fans witnessing the hometown Bruins defeating the Pens 2-1 on a pair of Jake DeBrusk goals. Each team wore a pair of vintage-style jerseys. This style jersey was also worn for games during the regular season, differing slightly, with no Winter Classic patch and a sponsorship patch to the right breast. This Bruins Winter Classic style jersey was worn during the 2022-23 regular season by defenseman Hampus Lindholm. An ode to many past seasons and not just one in particular, the size 58 Adidas jersey, with "bold, gold trim and stripes also includes touches of Vintage White throughout, chiefly on the numbers, name plate, and 'Boston' lettering. The light beige was meant to evoke aged textile as if this garment was found in a trunk deep in the back of an old skate shop, according to the official press release announcing the jerseys. The numbers, letters, and crest are a vintage felt with decorative top stitch. 'Boston' is arched across the front of the jersey in a "custom typeface created by adidas and inspired by the original Spoked-B worn in 1948. The arch-style of Boston is a nod to New England amateur hockey while the bear logo - which is re-colored to more of a brown tint from the original gold - underneath it is known for being the Bruins' secondary logo and shoulder patch from 1976 through the early-1990s. The inside back collar of the sweater is a nod to the Green Monster with "Boston" and the date of the game in white blocked letters like the panels on the wall's manual scoreboard." Exhibiting very light wear, there is just a faint burn mark visible to the left sleeve. A Meigray patch numbered "V02716" is situated on the inside hem, with an LOA to accompany.
