Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
One of the most beloved sets released during the decade of the 1970s, Topps’ 1975 baseball release offers an appealing design along with a strong checklist with another appealing aspect being that all cards came in one release, removing the multi-series approach of past years. Housed mostly within nine-pocket plastic pages that are housed in a large binder, the cards present in the overall uniform condition range of EX to EX-MT with some falling down towards VG-EX to EX the complete 660-card assembly is led by the rookie cards of Robin Yount and George Brett that are seen as being in the condition ranges of VG-EX to EX and EX to EX-MT respectively with the Brett showing just very light corner wear to make mention of. For the rest of the key cards, the group is paced by EX to EX-MT cards of 260-Bench (light corner wear), 300-Jackson (light corner wear), 370-Seaver (80-20 centering) and 620-Carter RC (light corner wear) in the neighbourhood of EX to EX-MT while key cards in the scope of VG-EX to EX include the likes of 20-Munson (large wax stain on back), 61-Winfield, 70-Schmidt (light damage at the left border), 320-Rose (small ding in the middle of top border), 500-Ryan (light border wear and 70-30 centering) and 660-Aaron (corner wear). For the last of the key cards, the lead off highlights card of Hank Aaron is seen as being in the vicinity of G to VG due to a large crease. With the rest of the star cards in a condition that is consistent with the rest of the set, the lone exception to this is card #100 of Willie Stargell while checklist cards #126, #386 and #517 are all marked as are the team checklist cards. A classic Topps set depicting the era’s boys of summer for you to contemplate.
