Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023

Beautiful condition survivors dating to the National Hockey League’s golden era of the Original Six, up for grabs here is this set of vintage goalie gloves dating to the early-1950s. Stall and Dean manufactured mittens and surely from their line of “Puckmaster” gauntlets, the model number of “665” is stamped into the wrist of each glove. Remaining in excellent condition with the leather of each still soft and supple, none of the leather laces appear dried out or broken in any place while some fraying/scuffing is seen around the edges and on the thumb of the blocker. Showing some puck marks over both gloves as well as toning (darkening) from age and use alike, it should be mentioned the leather on the pocket of the glove would benefit from some conditioner and that the one side of the pink and ring finger of the blocker has come unstitched. The palm of the blocker shows some darkening from use as well. Adding to their appeal, the gloves both come from the store of Lippmans Sporting Goods in Detroit, the supplier of equipment to the Detroit Red Wings in the era and each has had the company’s tag sewn to the wrist of each and remains in good condition. Consistent with the models of glove and blocker worn by NHL legends Terry Sawchuk and Harry Lumley, don’t miss out on these cool pieces of history!
