Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
Debatably the best player of the 1980s and 1990s as the only one able to hold a candle with the likes of countryman Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux’s storied career featured adversity like no one had ever seen before but still saw him register ten (10) seasons of 100 points or better and win a pair of Stanley Cups. Up for grabs here, is this collection of nine (9) Mario Lemieux O-Pee-Chee hockey cards dating between 1985-86 and 1989-90. Paced by a copy of Mario’s key 1985-86 OPC rookie card that is seen as being in the condition range of FR to G due to rounded corners and creases, a copy of his rookie record breaker from the same season is also included, a bit worse off at PR to FR because of multiple large creases. Also including a trio of Lemieux’s 1987-88 offerings, one (1) is viewed as falling in the condition scope of EX-MT to NM while the other two are both in the range of PR to FR respectively due to multiple creases and corner issues. Featuring a lone copy of Lemieux’s 1988-89 cardboard that is found in neighbourhood of EX-MT to NM but is about 85% off-center, the last three cards all hail from 1989-90 O-Pee-Chee and are in the conditions of EX-MT to NM, EX to EX-MT (light corner wear) and PR to FR (multiple creases and corner issues). An excellent grouping for a collector to add a bit of Stanley Cup and HOF pedigree to their collection at a reasonable price point, don’t allow yourself to miss out on these!
