Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/28/2023
Difficult to locate, and serving as two-thirds of a complete set of early-1960s CFL wood base nodder/bobbing head dolls, we offer a group of 6 including Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal and BC (there were 9 CFL teams during the era). All in the 6" to 6 1/2" inch range give or take, each has an embossed and painted team name to the chest, with nothing over the bases. Regarding condition, the Als doll has chipping to the underside with a few hairline cracks, as well as surface chipping to the paint on the top of the helmet, the Argos doll has a hairline crack only visible inside the head (possibly repaired), and the Blue Bombers doll shows no issues. The Stamps doll has some minor chipping to the underside, while the Lions doll has a few small edge cracks repaired. Lastly, the Eskimos doll has a few minor chips, with the spring appearing repaired, reattached to the head. This lot and many others in this auction hail from an advanced NHL and CFL nodder/bobbing head collection.
Addendum: Upon closer inspection with a blacklight, the Als doll has most of the white paint retouched, while the Lions doll has colour that was added to the head.
