Representing his nation at the famed Canada-Russia Series in 1972, Rod Gilbert would again don the colours of Team Canada at the 1977 IIHF World Championships - a tournament that witnessed the mighty maple leaf finish in fourth place, with Czechoslovakia taking home the gold. This Team Canada alternate captain's jersey was worn by Gilbert at the 1977 World Championships. A faded AK label with "46" sizing is affixed to the collar, with the jersey styled with a multi-coloured heat-pressed team crest. "7" is pressed to each sleeve and verso in red/white vinyl, with "Gilbert" across the sewn nameplate in matching material. "Canada" also graces each shoulder. The jersey exhibits stains over the lower front and to the sleeves, with the alternate's "A" quickly applied. Each sleeve has also been customized and cut down, with a bobby pin to each. There is also pilling to each interior sleeve. According to our consignor, this jersey was gifted by Gilbert to a charity in the 1980s.
