Drafted 11th overall in the 1st round of the 1975 MLB Amateur June Draft by the Chicago White Sox, Chris Knapp would go on to play parts of six (6) seasons in the major leagues between Chicago and California, compiling a win-loss record of 36-32 in 122 games to the tune of 604.1 innings pitched and a 4.99 ERA. Up for grabs here, is this California Angels jersey worn by Knapp during his final big-league season of 1980. A size “46” pullover poly-knit garment made by Wilson and worn during home games, both Wilson size tagging and a chain-stitched “80” (for 1980) year designation have been sewn over the lower front hem. Decorated with “Angels” across the chest in dual-layer red-over-navy tackle twill letters with the “A” also sporting the commonly seen halo ring at the top in yellow, Knapp’s number “42” is found over the front and reverse in matching style while the collar and both sleeves have been finished with navy and red stripped knitting. Featuring an Angels alternate logo patch over the left sleeve, the jersey shows wear through some staining over the left sleeve and lower left reverse, evidence of numerous washings via light fading and puckering of the twill logos and numbers and some popped threads to the reverse number “4”. Most definitely recycled to the minor leagues after the season, a common practice in the era, the name of "T.R. Bryden" is penned in black ink inside the reverse hem - Bryden would end up making the Majors, appearing in 16 games with the Angels in 1986.
