Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
Another in a myriad of beautiful unopened wax pack and unopened wax box offerings being offered to the hobby from our consignor, the possibility of a high grade rookie card bonanza from the 48 unopened (14-card) packs housed in this box of 1981-82 O-Pee-Chee cards should seduce hobbyists, which includes Hall-of-Famers Paul Coffey, Jari Kurri, Denis Savard, Peter Stastny, Larry Murphy, Glenn Anderson and Kevin Lowe - with each appearing on OPC cards for the first time - with Ciccarelli, Moog and Hunter rookies also notable, along with cards of young stars Gretzky, Messier and Bourque. Housing a previously mentioned amount of 48 wax packs that contained fourteen (14) cards each along with a stick of gum that cost .25 cents each, the box offered here along with its contents have been carefully examined and certified by unopened wax experts, Baseball Card Exchange (BBCE). Presenting in beautiful condition, only slight surface wear and a couple of relatively minor edge creases are present over the top lid that pictures Rangers goalie Doug Soetaert, the fold up display has been perforated along its edges while the multiple pieces of tape along the front edge are no longer intact (only the darkened one is the original factory piece). For the rest of the box, surviving in the same beautiful condition as seen on the top, light edge and corner wear are worth pointing out along with some minor light creases/folds and surface wear/spots of colour loss. A true beauty that has survived all this time, the relic has been sealed with BBCE shrink wrap, with the firm’s identifying label and tamper-proof hologram affixed to the underside overtop of the cellophane. Awaiting it’s new home, the box offers our lucky winning bidder numerous possibilities.
