Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
A 20-year Major League veteran who was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1951, Jimmie Foxx would win back-to-back World Series crowns in 1929 and 1930 as a member of the Philadelphia Athletics as well as the American League Triple Crown in 1933 and three (3) American League MVP Awards. Only the second player to join the distinguished 500 home run club, up for grabs here is this copy of Foxx’s 1934 World Wide Gum V354 baseball card. Produced by Montreal’s World Wide Gum – the Canadian Goudey – text on the back of this copy of card #58 displays in both French and English. Found to be in the grade range of FR to G in our opinion, the raw ungraded relic retains pleasing centering with rich vivid colours over the front while light toning over both sides, a long crease in the upper left corner area, what seems to be a cut on the surface of the card on the right upper area of the card, edge wear and corner wear/rounding keep it from reaching a higher mark.
