A groovy duo from the rough and tumble 1970s is up for grabs here via this lot that includes a 1970s Coleco hockey game miniature trophy display as well as a near set of 1971-72 Toronto Sun hockey photos that total 211 of 294.
Starting with the Coleco trophies, offered through a mail-in promotion by the company in the early-to-mid-1970's, the little plastic reproductions of the NHL's coveted silverware range in height between 2" and 3 1/2". The Stanley Cup even has all of its previous winners inscribed on it. The 1971-72 Boston Bruins are the last team listed, helping to date the ensemble. Held in place by small plastic pegs on the grey plastic stand that measures 21 ½” in length, all the nameplates that sit in the base are accounted for with a couple showing some discoloration and others showing various kinds of marks. The trophies are also all accounted for and show varying degrees of handling wear along with some discoloration. Of note, the Conn Smythe Trophy is broken/cracked in spots with some the decorations having been broken off as well.
For the Toronto Sun photos, 211 of 294 photos that make up the set are accounted for with all measuring approx. 5 ½” x 7”. All 14 teams are featured with the stars of the day including Orr, Hull, Howe, Esposito, Lafleur, Clarke, Horton, Mikita and others being featured. In admirable condition with toning and corner wear to the majority of the photos, some have had hole punch hole reinforcements applied to them while others show wear through stains, foxing/spotting and some other coloured marks.
