Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
Preparing for the 1947-48 NHL season, one that would see the blue and white hoist Lord Stanley's trophy, the Toronto Maple Leafs met the AHL's Pittsburgh Hornets in an exhibition match in October of 1947. This program for the match has been signed by approx 17 Leafs, with these players ranging from a few different NHL seasons. All signatures have been placed over the two-page center-spread, with most in pencil, with the group heavily faded and somewhat hard to decipher. Signers include Broda, Watson, Apps, Day, Pratt, Kennedy, Meeker, Lynn, Mortson, Klukay, Stanowski, Ezinicki, Hamilton, Sloan, Davidson, Thompson and Gordon Bell. The program itself is in low grade, with discolouration and staining to the signed pages, along with rusted staples. There is also a tear and paper loss to the cover along with pencil notations on the first page. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
