Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
Surpassing his idol, the great Gordie Howe, Wayne Gretzky entered the record books as the NHL's all-time leading scorer with his 1,851st point scored against his old club, the Edmonton Oilers, on Oct 15, 1989. This rare and highly sought full ticket for the historic match has been graded MINT 9 by PSA. Displaying the date, opponent and $26.00 purchase price, the Oilers ticket remains in gorgeous condition. The goal occurred at 19:07 of the third period to tie the match, with Dave Taylor and Steve Duchesne assisting. The game would go to overtime, with Wayne scoring the winner at 3:24, with Bob Kudelski assisting. The PSA population report shows only 4 graded full tickets, with this the lone MINT 9 specimen, with only 1 ticket graded higher. Accompanying the desirable ticket, we have a photocopy of the original score sheet from the game that was signed by both Gretzky and Howe (they signed the original, NOT this copy).
