Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
The only major North American sport to be “invented”, Canadian James Naismith created basketball in 1891 at Springfield College when tasked with developing an indoor game that would keep track athletes in shape, and was “not too rough”. Having gone on to give the world some of the greatest athletes of all-time throughout its history as well as become perhaps the most popular of the four major North American professional sports, over 4700 players have played in at least one NBA game throughout its 77-year history. Up for grabs here, is this lot of seven (7) autographed basketball jerseys that includes the names of some of the greatest to ever grace the hardwood. All generic jerseys in the colours of the team the player is most associated with that are also decorated with tackle twill player/team name and numbers across the front and back, jerseys signed by Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductees include the likes of Shaquille O’Neal (Lakers), Allen Iverson (76ers) and Dennis Rodman (Bulls) with additional examples signed by superstars including Stephen Curry (Warriors), Giannis Antetokounmpo (Bucks), Tyler Herro (Heat) and Marcus Smart (Celtics). All still in their original packaging with the autographs signed in either black or silver ink, all the jerseys and signatures display well and are in good condition with no flaws to point out except for some lightness to Shaq’s signature likely due to a failing marker. An excellent collection starter or addition, all are accompanied by either Beckett or JSA COA’s with matching stickers having been affixed to the jerseys themselves.
