Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/28/2023
One of the most famous moments in both Canadian history and hockey history, everyone that was around for Paul Henderson’s goal against the Soviet Union with 34 seconds left during game 8 of the 1972 Summit Series to give Canada the win can easily tell you where they were for the treasured moment. Recently having had it’s 50th anniversary celebrated this past September, up for grabs here is this 1972 Canada-Russia Series 35th anniversary team-signed uncut card sheet that once hailed from the personal collection of Canadian hero, Paul Henderson. Measuring roughly 22 ½” x 20” and produced by Heritage Hockey/Ficel Marketing in 2007, the shimmering cardboard sheet sports the fine black ink signatures of 26 members of that squad including Henderson, along with Dionne, Lapointe, Glennie, the Mahovlich brothers, Stapleton, Ellis, Park, Cashman, Cournoyer, Hadfield, Hull, Gilbert, White, Mikita, Parise, Savard, Redmond, Awrey, Glennie, Guevremont, Martin, Sinden and Tony Esposito. All in good legible condition, the signatures do appear as though the marker wasn’t the right choice for the glossy finish on top of the cards. Remaining in good condition, some finger prints are seen in areas over the front with some edges/corner wear and dings also being observed as well. As mentioned, the sheet originally hails from Henderson’s personal collection and was previously sold in our Winter 2020 auction. It should be noted that the LOA originally signed by Henderson that accompanied the lot then will NOT be included with the sheet.
