Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
A promotion to entice hockey-centric Montreal fans to purchase their liquor, Distillers Corporation Ltd issued mini player-picture hockey sticks in 1928-29 to hock their Green Stripe and Old Mull Whiskey, as well as their Vicker’s and Burnett’s London Dry Gins. 12” in length and constructed of compressed cardboard, each exceedingly rare stick features the brand’s name over the shaft, and player’s name and circular affixed photo over the blade. Produced in four colours - one per brand, with players available in all four colours, we have a Burnett's London Dry Gin Hooley Smith stick. An as-issued punched hole is present over the top section, with the text surviving wonderfully, and just minimal wear to the affixed image and stick. This is the first example of this particular stick we have ever offered.
