Hailing from a season in which the Montreal Canadiens won their third straight Stanley Cup championship by defeating both the Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins in the playoffs, the Habs also claimed the Prince of Wales trophy as the NHL’s regular season champions as well, finishing with a record of 43-17-10 for 96 points, 19 points clear of the 2nd place New York Rangers. Offered here, is this Montreal Forum press pass issued to a Mr. Roger Barry for Canadiens games during the 1957-58 season. Likely in attendance on the night of October 19th, 1957 when Maurice Richard scored his 500th NHL goal, “The Rocket” became the first 500 goal scorer in NHL history when he took a pass from Jean Beliveau and launched it past Black Hawks goalie Glenn Hall with a wrist shot. Having been certified as “Authentic” by PSA with an “altered” designation also appearing on the label, the pass measures approx. 3 ¾” x 2 ¼” with the right side having met the cruel fate of being trimmed. Displaying “working pass” in the middle with a Canadiens logo found above, the pass was the 219th one issued based on the red number stamp under the year designation at the top. Signed in the middle by the holder with a now oxidized black fountain pen signature, a crease is seen at the right side while light edge wear is also present. The PSA holder the pass is housed in remains in good condition with light scratches/scuffs observed over both sides.
